The terms,
plainly.

These terms cover the RISN app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and this website. By creating a RISN account you agree to them, so please read them. They’re written to be clear, not to catch you out.

Who can use RISN

You need to be at least 13 to use RISN. If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission, and they should read these terms with you.

Your account

You sign in with Apple, and each account is for one person. Keep your device and Apple Account secure, because anything done through your account is treated as done by you. RISN will never ask for your password or a verification code.

Your username is shown to other members in Clubs. Don’t choose one that impersonates someone, is offensive, or suggests you speak for RISN. We can ask you to change a username that breaks these rules, or change it ourselves.

Train safely

RISN isn’t medical advice. Plans, targets, progressions and exercise demonstrations are general guidance, not a diagnosis or treatment. Check with a health professional before you start a new program, especially if you have an injury or a medical condition, or are pregnant or postpartum. If something hurts, stop.

You’re responsible for training within your limits, using equipment safely and keeping aware of your surroundings, traffic and weather when you run or walk outdoors. Distance, pace, heart rate and step figures come from your devices and can be inaccurate.

Clubs and your content

Before you join Clubs you agree to the Community Guidelines, and they form part of these terms. There’s no tolerance for harassment, hate, threats, sexual content or spam.

You own what you post, including posts, comments, club names, emblems and shared activities. You give RISN permission to store, copy and show that content to the people it’s shared with, only so we can run RISN. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law.

Only post content you have the right to share, and only your own activities and results. We review reports within 24 hours and can remove content, remove members from clubs, close clubs, or suspend or end accounts that break these terms or the Community Guidelines.

Using RISN fairly

Don’t use RISN for anything unlawful, to harm or mislead others, or to falsify challenge results. Don’t try to access other people’s accounts or data. Don’t scrape, copy, reverse engineer or overload the app or its servers, or get around its limits or safety features.

RISN’s content

The app, its design, the RISN name and logo, programs and plans belong to RISN. Exercise instructions and demonstrations are licensed from WorkoutX. You may use them for your own personal training, not copy, resell or redistribute them.

Early access and feedback

RISN is in testing. Test builds shared through TestFlight are pre-release software. They may have bugs, and features may change or be removed. If you send feedback or ideas, we can use them to improve RISN without owing you anything for them.

Price

RISN is free while it’s in testing. If we introduce paid features, we’ll show you the price and any extra terms before you pay, and nothing will be charged without your say-so. Purchases made through the App Store are also covered by Apple’s terms.

Privacy

How RISN handles your data is explained in the App privacy policy, and the early-access list is covered by the early access privacy notice.

Ending your account

You can stop using RISN and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. If we ever shut RISN down, we’ll give you reasonable notice first where we can.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, the Australian Consumer Law or any other consumer law that can’t be excluded.

Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, RISN is provided as it is, and we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or suited to a particular goal. We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for injury that comes from how you train, except where the law says we are.

Apple

These terms are between you and RISN, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for the app, its content, support or maintenance, or for any claims about it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Those are RISN’s responsibility. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and it may refund the purchase price, if any. Beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation.

You confirm you’re not in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and not on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You also agree to follow the terms of any third-party services you use with RISN. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.

Changes to these terms

We’ll update these terms as RISN changes. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using RISN after that, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. If you live in Australia, you can also rely on the consumer protections in Australian law.
