RISN Join the crew

Your data,
clearly.

This policy explains how the RISN app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch handles your information. RISN does not sell personal data, show ads, use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, or track you across other apps or websites.

Your account

You sign in with Apple. Apple gives RISN an account identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address, which can be an Apple private relay address. RISN uses these only to run your account.

You also choose a username. Other members see it in Clubs next to your posts, comments and challenge results. When you change your username or delete your account, your old username is reserved for 14 days so mentions don’t point to someone else.

Your training profile

When you set up RISN you tell us your goal, experience, running ability, training days and times, session length, where you train and what equipment you have, anything to work around (such as knees, lower back or pregnancy), and, if you choose, your birth year, height and body weight, what motivates you and how you heard about RISN. RISN uses this to recommend programs, schedule sessions and time reminders. It’s saved privately to your account, only you can read it, and you can change it in Profile & settings.

Your body weight is kept as a history: each weight you log and the day it’s for, so you can see how it changes and bodyweight milestones use your weight on the day of each session. It’s saved privately to your account with the rest of your profile.

Your training and backup

Your plan, routines, programs, saved workouts, runs and walks (including sets, weights, reps, notes, times, distances and effort) are saved on your device first and backed up privately to your RISN account, so signing in on a new device brings everything back. Only you can read your backup. A session in progress stays on your device until you finish it. You can export your training history as a spreadsheet at any time from Profile & settings → Export training history; the file is made on your device and shared only where you send it.

Location & routes

RISN uses precise location only while you record an outdoor run or walk on iPhone or Apple Watch, to measure distance and pace, pause when you stop, and draw your route. It doesn’t use your location at any other time, and you can turn off route recording for a session. Routes are saved on your device and backed up to your account in simplified form; turn off Back up GPS routes in Profile & settings to keep them on your device only. Shared activities never include your route.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you allow it, RISN reads your step count for your daily steps goal and step challenges, and the heart rate recorded during your workouts to show your average heart rate in each recap. On Apple Watch, RISN reads heart rate, active energy and distance during a workout to show them live and in your recap.

During setup, RISN can read your weight, height and birth date to suggest your measurements. Only the values you confirm are saved, and only the year of your birth date. If you turn on Add weigh-ins from Apple Health in Body weight, RISN also reads your weigh-ins and adds them to your body weight history in your account: the weight, when it was recorded and Apple Health’s identifier for that reading, so a weigh-in you delete in Apple Health is removed from RISN too. Turn it off at any time.

RISN saves the workouts, runs and walks you finish to Apple Health, including time, distance and the routes you chose to record. Apart from weigh-ins you choose to add, RISN doesn’t upload Apple Health samples. Summaries such as a workout’s average heart rate are saved with that workout, and your step totals are shared with a club only for challenges you take part in. Apple Health data is never used for advertising or sold.

Clubs

Before you join Clubs you agree to the Community Guidelines. RISN then stores your club memberships and role, clubs you create (name, tagline, description and emblem), your posts, comments and kudos, and your total for each challenge you’re part of: steps, distance, sessions or active minutes for that period.

Club content is visible only to that club’s members. Private clubs are joined with an invite code; official RISN clubs are open to anyone. Sharing an activity posts only its summary (type, title, time, distance, sets, volume and date), never your route or notes. Reports you make and members you block are stored so RISN can review reports and keep the community safe.

Photos you add to a post are resized and stripped of their metadata, including location, on your device before they’re uploaded. Only the club’s members can see them, and reviewers of a report about that post. Drafts of a post stay on your device until you post or delete them.

Direct messages you send are stored so you and the person you’re messaging can read them. You choose who can message you, and you can unsend your own messages, delete a conversation for yourself, report messages and block members.

Exercise demonstrations

Exercise instructions and demonstrations come from WorkoutX through RISN’s servers. Your device never contacts WorkoutX, and no personal information is sent to them. To stay within usage limits, RISN counts how many demonstrations each account loads, not which ones.

Reminders, widgets & sharing

Session reminders and rest-timer alerts are scheduled on your device, only if you turn them on. If you allow notifications, RISN also sends alerts about club activity, such as mentions, messages, kudos, cheers and challenge updates, and a few encouragement notifications; each has its own switch in Profile & settings. To send them, RISN stores your device’s notification token, your time zone and the day of your latest session, so alerts arrive at sensible times and not on days you’ve trained. Widgets, Live Activities, Siri and Shortcuts actions and the Apple Watch app use data already on your devices. Share cards are made on your device and shared through iOS. RISN doesn’t upload them, and they show only what you choose.

Where your data is stored

Supabase hosts RISN’s servers and stores account data in Sydney, Australia. Apple provides Sign in with Apple and Apple Health. RISN doesn’t include any other third-party software development kits, analytics or advertising services.

Retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Profile & settings → Delete account, which permanently removes your account and the data described above from RISN’s servers. Read how account deletion works.
